[After escaping Spades, Marisa ran to the first place she could think of where she would be safe, sneaked inside and hid. In a certain magician's room. Under her bed. At least until she calmed down. Sadly, she wasn't hidden quite as well as she thought she was...]




[2: Thursday 8/18 - Phone/Action (1125 Taylor Road)]

[There's a lot of fumbling with the receiver before Marisa finally gets a handle on it.] You know... Some of this milk isn't so bad... This one bottle's kinda like my shrooms. I wonder... I wonder if I'll get those back. Gods I miss them...

Like I miss watching the stars dance in the sky and the... the... trees. Y'know how profound trees are? Such deep rooted knowledge of life and death and the way of balance and the universe. I wonder what the trees would say here with as fucked up as this place is.

[She seems to be talking to someone else now, having dropped the receiver onto the table without hanging up.]

Hey, Patchy... let's go talk to the trees...




[3: Saturday 8/20 - Action (507 Ricardo Street)]

[Fashionable scarf tied around her neck to hide the still-healing bruises from when she'd been strangled earlier in the weel, Marisa decides to go visit Alice and Shiki. Misery loves company and they were all miserable.]

[Marisa hadn't expected to be pulled out by her foot from under the bed and gave a very pained squeak that turned into a coughing fit. The sudden motion had her too disoriented to even try to focus on whatever had her by the ankle.]

[ That someone was very tell, had very red hair, and very much let Marisa dangle upside-down for a long moment as she considered the shape of the person. A young woman. A young blond wom-- ] Oh. It's you.

[Marisa reached out for the bed to steady herself, kind of glad her split lips wasn't bleeding anyone. With the witch being held upside-down, her hair hung down and the deep black, blue and purple bruises about her neck were clearly seen. her voice was hoarse, strained, and panicked.]

Put me down!

Okay. [ She brings a hand down behind Marisa's shoulder and lifts up at the same time as she's bringing that leg down. There is a brief moment where she's carrying her bridal style... before she drops her softly onto the bed. ]

[Marisa never noticed the position; she just noticed the world righting itself. Then she looked up at Meiling, dried tear tracks on her face, dried blood on her split lip, and she immediately looked back down.]

[ She sits down heavily beside her, too tired to go through the usual "Intruder! Stop! How did you get in?" routine. Meiling's about all out of fucks to give, or so it sounds like... but she also realizes that Marisa is now important to Patchouli. ] You look bad. [ Thank you, Captain Obvious. ]

[ Meiling leans in closer. ] Looks like it. [ She frowns, now. ] You're going to worry her, looking like that.

I didn't see you come in. I could have hurt you. [ Meiling confesses rather openly. Not that she isn't usually open, but telling someone who is trying to find sanctuary that you would have beat them up isn't the best way to comfort them. ]

She wouldn't forgive me. [ Not saying that's her only motivator, but the prime one. That and she hasn't killed someone in... she can't even think that far back right now. ] Who?

After a long pause. ] Why'd he do it?

Said I was a bad girl and needed punished. He... he was really scary. More than normal. He got all upset at me swearing when he usually swears more than I ever do.

Kept acting like I was his daughter...

Droned. [ It takes her a while to reach that conclusion, but it's the last part that clicks the thought into place. The violence was new, but she knew about that, too. ] It happened to Sakuya. [ And here the droopiness in her demeanor was amplified. She said and did so much to Sakuya yesterday; things she can never take back. ]

Meiling yawned. ] You should clean up.

If you're a bother, I'll throw you out. [ She reaches out and lazily pats Marisa's shoulder with a hand. ] Deal?

[ She sort-of-claps Marisa's sides. ] Under the arms? [ A ghost of a smile. ]

[She lightly bats at one of Meiling's braids.] Thanks.
