[Action - School]

[It's lunch time and Marisa has just managed to escape a gaggle of drone girls that had been intent on acquiring gossip about her 'boyfriend'. Once free, she finds herself a tree in the school yard to climb and enjoy her lunch in. So what if she's in a dress and if one stands at the right angle they might catch a glimpse of her panties? She's pretty sure her drone 'friends' won't find her in a tree.

Clearly she shouldn't be allowed to eat in peace, right?]

[One very annoyed witch picks up the phone after she gets home from school.]

Look. I don't care what anyone says, I'm not dating Guy 'Mustang'. You all probably know him as Guy of the Kutolah. And just because he calls me Lady Marisa and I'm at his house once or twice a week doesn't mean we're dating.

If I have to hear those damn girls ask me one more time about how 'hunky' he is, the Bowl-o-Rama, and if we're going up to Makeout Point anytime soon, I'm quite possibly going to set them all on fire. Besides, I'm already seeing someone that's not Guy.

So, if you hear anyone talking about that me-dating-Guy crap? Don't believe 'em.

Meiling. Do you really think Patchy wants me dating someone else while I'm dating her?

I don't know! I didn't ask her. I know she had this one boy who was here and then left and then came back and then left again.... once or twice.

I think. [ She pauses. ] She didn't like talking about it. [ Which probably means Meiling shouldn't have just said that, but... ]

[Good thing this is after Patchouli pretty much told her about him. She's not upset about it for one very important thing...]

She chose me, Meiling. She chose me over him. Dating multiple people at the same time is really only acceptable when you don't really know who you want to be with, ze.

It's not okay for Patchy and me to be dating other people, too. She chose me. She wants to be with me. And I love her. End of story.

[ The sound of her chin being scratched. She really didn't mean any offense by it, and it shows in her tone. ] I didn't think it was a contest, Marisa.

When one party of the relationship is uncertain, love becomes a contest. I don't remember what happened then because it was the last time I was here. So, I'm taking Patchy's word for it.

I'm sorry if I got snappy, but there's a part of me that still finds the fact that she chose me, that she wants me, hard to believe. Stupid curse.

I doubt she'd lie about something so serious, so that's a good pl--

I was cursed for a while by the Postman for something I did. Patchy came and saved me. Remember when she brought me to the house and I looked like absolute hell and after getting cleaned up pretty much fell asleep on her bed for a whole day?

[Let's just say it happened even though the thread never did get to the house.]

Yeah, that was because of the curse. It really messed me up, ze.

[ Oh, now she remembers! ]

Ohh, yeah.

...but what does that have to do with this?

...promise not to repeat this to anyone? Well, aside from Patchy.

[ She gets to hear secrets, now? This is kind of a strange dynamic. ] Mm. I promise.

I'm gonna hold you to that, ze.

Anyways... One of the aspects of the curse was me hearing voices constantly. Trying to break me down into nothing. One of the things they liked to tell me over and over and over and over and over was that Patchy was only ever interested in my magic - never in me. That I was just some kind of fascinating magical experiment regarding humans and magic that she was observing.

That she cared nothing for me.
That without the magic, I was nothing.

That sounds creepy. [ And, momentarily, she's reminded of when she had all those emotions pulling her in every-which-way, and she shuddered. ]

[ Upbeat. ] It's a good thing you didn't listen, because those voices were wrong! That doesn't sound anything like what Miss Patchouli is like at all.

I know. But I went a couple weeks like that. And to make it worse, I'd secluded myself away from everyone because of other parts of the curse. So the only thing I really heard, were those voices.

...I went a little mad. [Which is different than insane, for the record.] And I'm not completely over it, ze. I just fake it really well.

I can't really tell. [ A pause. ] Then again, we never talked much before coming here, so it could be I just don't know what to look out for!

Yeah... So don't go telling people, ze.

I already said I wouldn't! Give me some credit, Marisa. I'm not about to blabbing people's secrets out.

And yet if Patchy hadn't already told me about that boy you just would have blabbed hers.

She didn't tell me I couldn't tell anyone. [ As simple as that. ] You're not making the fact you're dating her a secret, either, are you?

I'm not, but Patchy hasn't told Remilia yet. So I dunno...

--that's not going to be good. [ And yes, now Meiling sounds nervous all of a sudden. WONDER WHY. ]

Not if she finds out before Patchy tells her.

...not that it'll be good when she does tell her.

I think the longer you wait, the worse it'll be. The Mistress hates when people keep secrets from her. [ Number one reason why Meiling pretty much keeps zero of her own. Not worth the risk. ]

I know, but it's not my place to tell her.

Oh, no no no, if you told her, I think she'd flip her hat.

[ Mumbling ] Does she even have her hat back? I should check...

And she'd never believe me.
