[Oh, she slips inside before the door closes like the thief she is.]
And I've seen that same look on her face when talking about you. [Arc was drunk at the time but DETAILS.] I've seen you and her, ze. Why do you keep denying there's something there?
You've got nothing to lose by just kissing her once. ONCE. And it doesn't even have to involved tongue. Though you are more than welcome to take it that far...
She was never meant to have human emotions. Put her in a helpless state where the surroundings are always shifting, of course she'll come to rely and get attached at anything steady. Your presence included. [kitchen tinkering noises go here...] I'm not denying anything, it's your teenage girl hormones talking. Why don't you go to bed early tonight? Maybe you can will yourself to dream absolute nonsense from happening.
And why do you keep denying you have them, ze? [Marisa pops up to sit on the counter nearby.] Don't you want a moment of happiness, of closeness? I know you're not a teenager anymore but you're body is locked as one. You can't claim it's my hormones, ze. You've got the same ones.
I don't, you're confusing denial with your own expectations. [Getting the ingredients out and the stuff she needs to have this ready...] I'm perfectly okay the way I already am, Marisa. It's one thing to voice what you think is best for someone else, even if it's wrong, but it becomes rude when you try to force that opinion onto them.
You know, I'd think by now you'd realize that I actually listen to reason and logic if it's presented to me in a respectful manner, ze.
No one ever really thinks, after I've borrowed something, if they just go 'can I have that back' instead of going off the handle with me, I'm more likely to give it back.
You know... I haven't been high once while here that wasn't because of bad milk. Do you have any idea how much it sucks not to be able to take a vacation from my own mind? I'd have killed for the damn town to give me my mushrooms back.
Definitely at least somewhat, actually. I'm quite grateful to the first magus who came up with self-hypnosis and put it to use. And if you just asked me, I would have went to trade some back at the Post Office in your place.
That would've required me being willing to give up something I'd gotten back, ze. Wasn't willing to part with any of that just cause I wanted to be stoned out of my mind for a few days.
[a small shrug from the back.] If you're that smart, work on something practical instead. So are you telling me that what you're insisting on, is the supposed happiness of two people?
And yet you do coexist and you do more than just assist her when needed. For all you try to appear otherwise, Ciel, you care for her. In some weird-ass way that's not normal, yes, but you still care for her.
A princess needs a prince, ze. I've seen you be her prince before. [Marisa slides off the counter and starts to leave, but stops at Ciel's shoulder.] You should've done it then. That was the right moment, when it was like you were both under the spell...
Only I know there was absolutely no magic involved. Try again, Ciel.
[And now Marisa leaves Ciel to finish dinner. She'll go lay down on the couch until it's ready.]
Marisa doesn't know that the one person Ciel acknowledges in having loved - maybe still do, is the very knight whom, back home, has devoted the rest of his human lifespan to protect that princess and keep her smile alive. There was already a prince, whom Ciel personally assisted in guarding his princess. It would be beyond ridiculous, a terribly poor joke, the very idea of a shift in that sort of situation.
Marisa doesn't know either why Arcueid was so reluctant to speak of Ciel. Because Arcueid Brunestud, although indirect, is part of the reason why her life has been torn in shambles. If that woman in white never existed, Roa would have never met her, never fallen the way he has. ...Not that Ciel begrudges either of them, not at this point, but that sort of information can help put things in better perspective.
There are other reasons. Other excuses. (After a while, they become the same thing. Maybe.) But honestly? Thinking about them or making them would be more effort than what they're worth. And so, she lets the silence stay. She can appreciate Marisa's enthusiasm, really, but things just aren't the way she perceives them.
Maybe it was just a difference in opinion.
...
Either way, she's got dinner to set up, so she'll get her focus back on that.]

Sometimes the things you don't say tell me more than the things you do say.

You don't seem willing to leave it alone no matter what I say or how I keep quiet, so I doubt that I have a choice either way.

Just sayin'.

There's nothing logical or reasonable about what you're asking to begin with, though, so of course that won't work out.

The White Princess of the True Ancestors a nuisance, and we shouldn't coexist. But with all that's happened, I'm willing to assist her when need be.
[She resumes.]
That's all there is to it.
