[Action - afternoon POST OFFICE]

[Yes, Marisa had been told by a few people not to go to the post office. Never, ever go to the post office. BUT SHE HAD A PLAN!

Marisa was currently... invisible. Theo had been wonderful, casting the spell on her, and once confirmed, the witch and Rita headed for the post office. The plan was perfect. Rita would head inside, talk to the postman as a distraction, while Marisa used that time (and the open door the other girl provided her) to check out the back area.

It was a scouting mission, really. Marisa didn't have any intention of -taking- anything. So after a quick silence spell on herself (thanks to her recently restored lower magic), they set off to storm the castle. Only it wasn't a castle, but a post office, and less storming and more sneaking.

Yeah, that.]

[The Postman strolls up to the door and stands outside it to watch them go. He lifts his hand with a friendly wave 'goodbye'.]

Don't forget my offer, you hear?

[With that, he'll slip back inside the Post Office.]

NOW OUTSIDE THE POST OFFICE

[identity profile] adropofjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Once outside and the door closed, Marisa will speak. She's still invisible... for now.]

Across the street and around the other building. I got stuff, ze.

[Her voice sounds really shaky.]

YESSS

[identity profile] blastiagraphy.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
This was crazy, you know that?

[ That's all she says as she follows those instructions, though. ]

[identity profile] adropofjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Invisible Marisa replies, still shaky...]

Yes. Yes, it was. I... I think he saw me. I dunno how but I think he saw me.

[Hear the panic starting to build in her voice?]

[identity profile] blastiagraphy.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
[ Rita snorts. ] Saw you? Come on, even that creep would have done something if he noticed you. [ Hear that tone in Rita's voice? PSHAH. ]

[identity profile] adropofjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
I know, but he looked right at me.

[And just before rounding the corner, the spell fades and Marisa shimmers back into sight with a package under her arm. Once behind the building, out of sight of the post office, she stops and slides down the wall.

And that's when she notices she's covered in sweat and her hands shake a bit.]

Gods... I'm so freaked out right now. I was trapped. The door closed on me. ON IT'S OWN.

[identity profile] blastiagraphy.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
It was a coincidence. [ Not "probably," there was no room for doubt in Rita's words. ] You need to calm down. It makes sense there'd be some sort of magic in that place. [ Even if it is magic without blastia--a concept she's still working to grasp. ]

[identity profile] adropofjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
...yeah. That's gotta be it. I just can't sense magic right now. But I'll get that back eventually... Yeah.

[She sets the package down and pulls the handful of letters out.]

This is what I grabbed. There were all sorts of packages in there and a big bag of letters. Kinda... what you expect from a post office. I was looking for stuff with our names on it or Patchy, Alice and Theo's, but then this damn letter jumped in my way.

[Pointing to the crumpled one]

So I just grabbed what I could. Let's see what we got.

[And of course she's going to open the package, but eventually they'll all get opened. Respecting the privacy of other people's mail? Hell no. This was well-earned loot.]

[identity profile] mayfield-mods.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
[The crumpled letter has a piece of paper inside which bears a strange symbol on it- a yellow orb of light. Like other similar packages containing immaterial things like magic, it will absorb itself into Marisa the moment she touches it. She'll be able to sense right away that it's healing magic- and whoever it originally belonged to was certainly powerful, because she'll be able to feel the strength practically begging to be let out again.]

[identity profile] blastiagraphy.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
What was that?

[ Rita hasn't seen an immaterial regain. Her own magic came form her blastia, a red core in the gold necklace around her neck. So she's legitimately confused. ]

[identity profile] adropofjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
Woah.

[Marisa blinks as she stares at the orb on the card. Her whole body feels so TINGLY. She's never had more than the bare basic healing magic before.]

Magic. Healing. Pretty potent from the feel of it. This is... Wow. [blink] You open the next one.

[identity profile] blastiagraphy.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
These envelopes have magic?

[ Rita's picking one up... looking at it curiously from every angle.

It's too thin, it can't hold a blastia. But magic didn't necessarily need a blastia here...

It was something to investigate.

So she'd slowly open it. ]

[identity profile] mayfield-mods.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
[This envelope also contains a piece of paper with a photograph; this time, the picture is all black. A thin wave of light runs through it.

The magic that absorbs into Rita is of a slightly different variety. The sudden shock of telekinesis as it grips into her mind is not a pleasant one, but after it settles into her she'll feel calm all over, and she'll be able to sense what the power can do; the psychic resident of Mayfield meant to regain this power could move or transport any object at will with just a single thought.]

[identity profile] adropofjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Marisa leans over to look at the card, but can't figure out what it's supposed to represent. Earn one curious look, Rita.]

So?

1/3

[identity profile] blastiagraphy.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
It's--

It's something I've never felt before. This is a lot different than working magic through a blastia. Is it even magic?

Some monsters and-well, Estelle-can manipulate aer without a blastia, but their bodies contain formula that make it possible. This is completely lacking any formula, a raw strength and energy.

2/3

[identity profile] blastiagraphy.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
How can I even quantify this type of energy? It's a power without an element, and it doesn't even feel like magic...

Not that magic should feel like anything. It's unnatural to feel a power like this inside of you. Magic is supposed to come from a blastia, and--

[identity profile] blastiagraphy.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
[ CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY, MARISA... she catches herself before she really starts to ramble. ]

It's a type of magic that lets you--lets me--manipulate objects at a distance.

I'm not sure if I can even call it magic, though. It feels like the power's originating from the mind.
Edited 2011-07-21 08:50 (UTC)

[identity profile] adropofjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
From the mind? Sounds like telekinesis, ze. Me and the other magicians of Gensokyo can mimic it with magic, but only for utility purposes. Nothing close to anything a telekinetic can do.

Cool.

[She looks at the remaining letter and the package. Now that she had a better idea of what might be in them, she wasn't sure she wanted the package or the letter.]

Rock - paper - scissors for who gets the package?

[identity profile] blastiagraphy.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
Personally, I wish there was something else to really study. [ Something that would give her a clue on how this place worked, or how to get out. ] But if these are all we have to work with...

I suppose that's a fair way to decide.

[identity profile] adropofjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
We have something - that Westport crap. And what was that about Estelle being in Mayfield?

Anyways...

[She holds her hand out and does the count off.]

One two three!

[And throws rock.]

[identity profile] blastiagraphy.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ Rita scoffs at that. ]

Estelle's not here. I would know if-

[ Oh. She threw scissors.

That means she lost. ]

[identity profile] adropofjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
...I don't think it works that way, ze. I was here before, but I don't remember.

But let's open these at the same time.

[Marisa takes the package and rips it open, peering inside.]

[identity profile] blastiagraphy.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
[ Rita... actually looks rather concerned at that statement.

Still, she opens the envelope at the same time Marisa opens the package. ]

[identity profile] mayfield-mods.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
[In a remarkable... coincidence(?), inside the package, Marisa will find something of her very own. It's her hat, and in just the same condition as she last saw it before coming to Mayfield.

As for the letter Rita opens, in it is a photograph of a mask. The ability that is absorbed into her is a strange but useful one depending on your intentions; whoever possessed it before was able to assume the identity of any other person, although the shapeshifting does not extend to animals.]

[identity profile] adropofjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Marisa stares at the contents for a long moment before squeeing in delight.]

My hat!

[And now she's hugging the worn black witch hat with ribbon, frill and the star sewn onto it. How she loved her hat.]
