[Marisa's not exactly sounding like herself today. In fact, she sounds a little freaked out though her voice is quiet.]

Um... What, uh... What happens when... ah. What happens when drones, um.... die?

[Anyone passing by 1125 Taylor might notice the front door is half open and there sun reflects off of something thick and red dripping slowly down it.

[OOC WARNING: Marisa is now suffering the Postman's Curse for breaking into the post office. Any characters coming to 1125 Taylor may be subjected to bodily injury should they have physical contact with Marisa. PM me for more details if needed.]

[Maria's eyes widen at 'death touch' and she looks down at her hands, wiggling her fingers a little. She doesn't harm herself, so...]

[And then, watching the Yama heal so slowly, Marisa uses her new healing magic - magic that doesn't feel Gensokyoan - to heal Eiki. A bright yellow light engulfs the witch's hand and powerful healing settles on the Yama.

...hell, she didn't even know if it would work on someone like the Yama, but she felt bad.]

[It was mostly slow because Eiki wasn't concerned about it and left it be, but Maria's new magic did indeed work, it also made the situation obvious.]

I should thank you for the consideration, but using magic that does not belong to you is not a favor.

[Marisa had not lied, and the truth was starting to form clearly. This sort of behavior was not out of the ordinary for the witch. But instead of disapproving or angry Eiki becomes more concerned.]

Where did you obtain that?

...just felt bad you were healing so slowly. And it's mine now.

[The witch glanced up.]

And I got it in a letter. Wasn't addressed to anyone, ze.

[Which made it a 'finders-keepers' thing to the witch. Never mind where she found it.]

[A little sigh of relief and she takes a half-step back.]

Rita and I did some reconnaissance at the post office a few days back. Theo cast an invisibility spell on me and I took a look around the place while Rita tried to mail a letter to one of her friends back home as a distraction.

[That explained everything. Eiki gives a deep sigh and lowers her head a bit. What a pain.]

I see... I understand this situation now. The post office is not a place to cross, it is a place that should be avoided. It is a dangerous place and even placing a trade is risky. You need to return what you have taken.

We didn't make any deals, ze. I was warned about deals. I just wanted to see what as inside... try to get a clue or something.

And then the door closed on me and I thought I was gonna have to blast my way out. So I grabbed a few things in case I did to make it worth it.

And my hat is mine. I'm not giving back something that's mine.

Deals or no deals he is a dangerous and powerful man. He is capable of warping things and I'm quite sure he is aware of all packages and who has received what. He has given things freely only to take them away later. I would not be surprised if this effect you have is a punishment for your crime.

Though it is unfair you will have to give him something for your hat. No matter who or what you are there is no free gain for requested items.

I didn't request anything. It's mine and I took it back. He's the one that stole it from me.

[She's getting worked up.]

And Rita's fine. She doesn't have any death touch and she got some of the magic, too. We split everything. Why is it only me?

He did, but the rules of this engagement do not favor us. There are no exceptions, if we want our stuff we have to wait for it or give something up. Even I have paid that price.

[She sighs again.]

The way they do things is warp and twist something into something else unfavorable. No doubt this is a warping of the healing ability you took. Your friend may suffer something else but less apparent.

I don't believe that we're completely at his mercy. I can't believe that. I don't function that way, Yama, and you know it. There is a way to turn this whole thing around and I'll find it. Somehow.

Rita got telekinesis and shapeshifting. I got healing and my hat.

I have seen what this town does, the limits in which they will go. Do you think I am here of my own free will? Do you think I would trade parts of myself for my own items with another choice? [Her voice was growing heavy and entering judge mode.] I am the Supreme Judge of Paradise, I a member of the Committee of What is Right and Wrong, I am directly under the Ten Kings. If we were not under their mercy I would not play with this foul unjust system!

[There is a long moment before she speaks up again, her tone is a bit lighter but she is still keeping a weight to it.]

Much can go wrong with both of those abilities. It would probably be best to see her.

[Normally, Marisa would back away from Eiki when she started using that tone. But she can't... she can't if she wanted to look herself in the eye the next time she saw her reflection.]

Then why aren't you fighting against it? You just waiting for one of them Kings to show up and save you? Nothing worth having ever comes easy, Yama. I don't know about you, but I earn things through my own blood, sweat and tears. I endure until I find the key I need.

[She's not yelling, but there's an odd strength to her words. It's not often Marisa let's a core belief of hers be seen.]

I do not need them to come, I should be able to deal with it myself. And that is what I am trying to tell you. I am unable to do basic things within my power, there is a restriction. I can not do what I should and need to do. The only rules here are theirs. That is not to say there are no small victories, but what you are doing now? That is just deluding yourself and giving yourself away as a victim. There is a lot to be said about slow and steady, if progress is to be made that is the only way. We are out leveled here.

Endure as you like, but what is the point in enduring if you simply destroy yourself and all around you in the process?

The doer of evil reaps suffering,
